Driver Assessments

Have you taken any additional driver training since passing your driving test?

If not there is a good chance that driving styles and techniques will have changed along with technology changes on the vehicle(s) you drive. With around 100 people killed or seriously injured on our roads every day, isn't it worth seeing how you can keep out of trouble?

Most people pass their test and then think no more about improving their driving skills or even keeping up with the latest trends and that is why we offer driver assessments at a remarkably competitive price - starting from just £60.00 per person - to help you decide if you or your employees could benefit from further training.

Our price is based on a minimum of two assessments conducted from the same site on the same day, within a fifty mile radius of our office in Northamtonshire.
For distances more than fifty miles we would add a small mileage charge to cover the additional travelling costs.

Online Driver Assessment

Some companies offer online assessments but at the present moment this is quite a controversial topic with many people claiming that this is simply a way for driver trainers to encourage more "customers" through their doors by giving them a high risk rating for answering a few questions. Readers of Fleet News will be aware of this debate. Here is just one Fleet News article. You can move around their site to find arguments on both sides.
Here at Positive Driving we have mixed feelings. It is hard to see how answering some questions online or on paper will indicate how someone drives but it will give a clear insight into their general knowledge of the law, the Highway Code and driving procedures and this, in itself, as long as the questions are not ambiguous, could indicate a trend towards a higher risk.

At Positive Driving we are developing an online knowledge test to help people to identify gaps in their knowledge but at this stage we would not consider that to be an indication of their driving ability or a risk assessment. We still prefer to see a practical drive! That is why it does not appear on our website yet.

What is involved in a practical driver assessment

During the drive, once a risk assessment has been made, our trainer may give the driver some tips on staying safe and avoiding trouble. We believe that it would be irresponsible not to do so if we observe dangerous trends.
